A news reporter found herself on live TV at the wrong time — and now she’s a viral sensation thanks to her escape.
During Sky News’ ongoing coverage of Brexit on Monday, the outlet aired a live shot of 10 Downing Street, where Great Britain’s Attorney General Geoffrey Cox was set to exit a vehicle.
The anchor said it could be the “toughest week yet” for Prime Minister Theresa May, but the only one looking stressed on TV was correspondent Tamara Cohen, who accidentally walked into the live shot.
What happened next has since been turned into GIFs and spread across the internet: Cohen slid into view, standing in front of Cox’s Jaguar. Seemingly realizing she was now on national television during a voiceover, Cohen didn’t just walk out of the shot, but rather ducked below the lens.
“Loved the disappearing Correspndent [sic] @SkyNews. Comedy moment in Downing Street. Like a trap door opened beneath her,” editor Chris James jokingly tweeted.
His post has since been retweeted over 1,000 times and garnered nearly 4,000 likes.
Showing her sympathy for the correspondent, one Twitter user commented, “That’s the kind of humiliating thing that would happen to me. Ha ha xx.”
Another penned, “Classic. Monty Python would be proud,” while another brought it full circle back to the political coverage, quipping, “Brexit summed up.”
